Feedback Systems

Back (Answer)

Body responds to a change, or stimulus.

  • Negative feedback: response opposes stimulus.
  • Positive feedback: response increases stimulus (eg. labour, breast feeding).

Feedback Loop:

  1. Stimulus: Change in the environment that causes the system to operate.
  2. Receptor: Detects the change
  3. Modulator: Control centre responsible for processing information recieved from receptor, and for sending information to effector.
  4. Effector: Carries out response counteracting effect of stimulus.
  5. Feedback: Achieved because original stimulus has been changed by response.
