prejudice serves an important goal for people. Can help us gain economic resources for our own group. Also specific features of the person and situation bring these goals into prominence.

o Several logical steps to reduce them

§ Change features of the person- anxious people are particularly likely to stereotype others- then reduce anxiety.

§ Change feature of situation-

§ Give people alternative ways to satisfy their goals.
