Dogrib Social organization

bilateral kinship system, traditional marriage unmarked by ceremony- just started living with each other, started with matrilocal residence until 1st baby is born and then patrilocal residence, small amount of polygyny before catholic church, no divorce among dogrib after catholic church, nothing against pre or extra marital sex, could have common law marriage with someone else; adopted children treated as own children; kin ties and kin network very important, inheritance: things passed down family line- parents to children; men trained boys and women trained girls; no class system or higher status; only recognized skills (ex. best hunter or best tracker etc.)
